Don’t Skip Breakfast
When you participate in high intensity training, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. This is especially true if you exercise in the morning. As you plan out what you’ll eat, you should consider eating a banana, yogurt, whole-grain cereal, juice, waffles, or other foods that will boost your energy.
Make Protein & Carbohydrates a Priority
As you exercise, your body will use the carbohydrates you consumed as fuel. For this reason, it’s essential that your diet consists of approximately 70 percent carbohydrates. As you participate in high intensity training classes, you will also need to fuel your body with protein. Although you do not need as much protein as carbohydrates, it is still essential to incorporate it into several of your meals every day.
Schedule Your Meals
When you eat and how much you eat should depend on when you exercise. For instance, if you intend to eat a large meal in the morning, you shouldn’t exercise until three or four hours have passed. However, it’s essential that you consume a small snack about an hour before your workout to ensure that your body has enough fuel to sustain itself.
