Bill Meritt Bill Meritt, PT
Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
Certified in Dry Needling
Fellow, American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists

Bill grew up on Lake Norman in Catawba County. After graduating from Bandys High School, he attended Taylor University in Upland, IN, where he graduated cum laude with his Bachelor’s degree in Biology. He also played on the Taylor University Trojan football team for four years, and was twice-named Academic All-American and Academic All-Conference.
Shoulder injuries and subsequent surgery and rehabilitation introduced Bill personally to rehab, and ultimately directed his career-path. After Taylor, Bill attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. As he continued a career in orthopedic physical therapy, Bill furthered his education by pursuing an orthopedic manual therapy fellowship with The Manual Therapy Institute. This experience culminated after 4 years of work in 2012 when Bill completed his clinical hours component at Duke University Medical Center, and was awarded Fellow status with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. This designation is held by only two dozen of the greater than 7000 physical therapists licensed in North Carolina. He has since further set himself apart from his peers by being recognized in 2013 as a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. In addition, Bill has been certified in dry needling by the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (AAMT).
Bill’s entire career has been spent specializing in orthopedic physical therapy. His most recent position was as the Director of Physical Therapy for four orthopedic surgeons in their local sports medicine practice. Bill worked alongside these physicians in progressing the care of their patients, helping to get patients back to their desired level of activity. He also worked with the physicians in developing rehabilitation protocols, particularly focused on determining appropriate return to activity status for athletes. In addition to treating post-operative patients, Bill also worked with patients in helping them avoid surgery, and return to doing the activities they love as quick as possible.
Bill founded Catalyst Athletic Rehab and Performance, LLC, in 2014 in order to allow him to provide the type of care that committed, driven individuals deserve. Average treatment and average service are good enough for some; for those that want more out of their rehab or performance, Bill has created the premier physical therapy experience that is uniquely tailored to each individual to help each person achieve their fitness goals.
Bill currently lives in the Mooresville area with his wife and two daughters. He tries to balance the estrogen level in his house by getting his daughters to watch football and basketball with him. You can find him working out before the sun comes up as a member of the F3 Nation.
